Werner Theinert
An Art Photographer, Werner stood shoulder to shoulder with his Wife Ursula as they fought the fires on that fateful Saturday when so many lives and assets were lost statewide. His photographic works may therefore take a different turn to earlier works because of this. Werner manages to engage viewers with the details and visual intrigue of optical illusions, while blending direct text references to bring the viewer to a sense of bare reality.

‘Spa Cover’ is my first developed photograph after the Black Saturday fires. I found it difficult to think about my photography after the fires. I even found it hard to photograph the devastation of my home, land and the surrounds of Callignee. Now I keep myself busy rebuilding the garage, the new studio and gallery and mending our home. ‘Spa Cover’ is the first of my new series of photographs which will be based on the images of the aftermath of our home. ‘Spa Cover’ is rather esoteric but it represents the marvel or rather miracle of our outside spa, which was the only water source left to us to fight against the fire that night.
The multiple cube or rather boxes refers to the many homes that suffered the same fate. I have three images which are based on the same photograph each one zooming closer into the detailed unit of one. I am in the process of creating several other photographs which will be based on the distorted metal of the damaged workshop, studio and garage. These photographs enable me to express the new forms of the destroyed, into hopefully the beauty of a new beginning.
